Escape from the hustle & bustle of Sheffield and cosy up in our intimate chocolate café with a good book or your favourite friends. Cocoa is the perfect spot for any mood or occasion. Treat your mum to some tea and cake, bring your sweetheart and enjoy our decadent hot chocolate (we've witnessed many proposals through the years) or if you're feeling down in the dumps, release those endorphins with the perfect chocolate pick-me-up. Our aim is to brighten up your day and have you leaving even happier than when you arrived!
There's an enchanted spot for everyone in our wonderland. You can now sit in the sunny bay window of our little chocolate shop and soak in the magical atmosphere, where you'll be surrounded by all our wonderful confections. But be warned you might be tempted! You can also sneak to another room of enchantment on the next floor up. Climb a very steep staircase to our secret 'Cocoa Den'. Prop yourself up against piles of velvet cushions and lose yourself in a curious fantasy land. Or in the summer months, why not relax outside in the sun and watch the merry world of Ecclesall Road go by – we're on the sunny side of the street!
Please note our little chocolate cafe is strictly sweet (we do not serve any savoury food apart from Afternoon Teas which are available for bookings).
We're immensely proud that...

Luxury Hot Chocolate
"This lovely little cafe is so friendly. We got the seat in the window downstairs. My husband had a black forest gateaux hot chocolate and my daughter had the full Monty hot chocolate. We each bought a handmade chocolate to go on the side. The owners are so friendly. A must visit."
Luxury Hot Chocolate
Cocoa’s speciality is the thick hot chocolate made with cream and the finest Belgian dark chocolate – a total must for any chocolate lover. There are seven different hot chocolates on our menu – one for each of Sheffield's hills.
If you're feeling especially indulgent, try our Full Monty – luxurious thick hot chocolate topped with cream, marshmallows, chocolate buttons and brownie pieces. Our Black Forest Hot Chocolate is inspired by our favourite German gateaux, piled with cream and brandy cherries. Then there's a milky hot chocolate perfect for kids, a mocha for coffee lovers, or Chocolate Affogato for anyone dreaming of swapping an English summer in Sheffield's seven hills for an Italian one in Rome's sister hills.
"Just WOW! Having travelled for 8 years this is genuinely the best hot chocolate I have ever had! The prices are surprisingly good and the atmosphere is gorgeous in this friendly chocolatier. If you're in Sheffield you must visit this place. True luxury!"
Coffee and Cake
Coffee and Cake
Our coffee is as local as we can, provided by top Sheffield coffee roasters Smith Street Coffee, which is roasted at the Holt – our favourite café in town. There are yummy milkshakes, as well as gluten-free, dairy-free and other caffeine-free options.
If you'd like a slice of cake with your coffee or tea, we have stacks of gooey fudge cakes, gluten-free brownies, carrot cakes and courgette cakes to feast on, as well as an array of other sweet delights, all baked by us in our kitchen.
Chocolate Afternoon Tea
Tea is our second favourite thing (after chocolate!). Choose from a rainbow of loose teas from all around the world, served in your very own teapot with a china cup and a handmade chocolate on the side.
We blend our own speciality teas, and our tea blends include Chocolate Cake (honeybush tea with chocolate and rose petals – pair with a rose milk chocolate for an afternoon treat), Pink Pina Colada Tea (a berry, coconut and pineapple tea blend with a hint of the tropics that works beautifully with zingy and deep our 70% dark chocolate), and Brazilian Brew (mate tea with orange peel and liquorice – perfect with a Grenada bar).
"A Storybook Cafe. We visited Cocoa Wonderland today - a lovely little pink and gold chocolate shop. My husband and I shared a delicious Chocolate Affogato (a spoonful of Vanilla ice cream drowned in thick, warm chocolate) and a piece of rich rose and pistachio cake. The cake was brought by Kate, who had thoughtfully cut it into two equal pieces, each on its own plate, thereby preventing an argument about who ate the most cake :-)"
