Chocolate Afternoon Tea

Introducing the Cocoa Wonderland take on Afternoon Tea - a chocolate tea party .. It's only taken nearly 14 years but due to popular demand we have finally created a menu we're very excited about indeed! Just in time for Mothers Day.. We love tea parties - especially ones that involve chocolate!

Even the savouries are infused with chocolate! Our chutney is made with our very own Thornbridge Chocolate Porter (made 4 years ago to mark our 10th year in business) which we bought from our friends at Hop Hideout. I made this (& the chocolate strawberry jam) with my dear papa who is a pro jam and chutney maker. He is also a cabinet maker and has made all the furniture for Cocoa. The chutney is a perfect complement to the Wensleydale cheese.

The menu includes chocolate in many forms, like chocolate balsamic glaze that smothers the snow pea shoots. But the showstopper is our famous 'Proper' thick hot chocolate made with cream and the finest Belgian dark chocolate. It's more like a liquid truffle than a hot chocolate! Every Cocoa Wonderland Afternoon Tea contains a dainty dose!

Our Afternoon Tea will also include the Brownie of the Day, freshly dipped chocolate strawberries and a chunk of award-winning Tipple Tails 'Coco Bazaare' chocolate fruit cake. This is a mysterious and unusual chocolate fruit cake with an eastern twist, laced with pistachios and honey, spiced with cardamom and infused with an exotic Chocolate Rose liqueur, handcrafted by Jane Stammers in Sheffield – perfect with a cup of our English Rose loose tea to really set off the decadent flavours.

Tea is our second favourite thing (after chocolate!). For your Afternoon Tea, you can choose from a rainbow of loose teas from all around the world. We blend our own speciality teas and have 15 varieties to choose from. The Chocolate Cake Tea (honey bush tea with chocolate and rose petals) and Black Forest Tea (black tea, chocolate & truffle oil) are our top recommendations to add to your chocolatey experience. You can also choose from traditional sodas (like pink lemonade & ginger beer) or Smithstreet Sheffield roasted coffee.

To top off your Afternoon Tea experience, make up your own duo chocolate box of handmade truffles from our extensive collection – choose from over 30 varieties made in store and locally. Too full after all those chocolate treats? No problem! We'll wrap up your box, so you can take it home for later.

We need a little bit of notice to get everything prepared to make sure your Afternoon Tea is extra special, so we only take bookings. Chocolate Afternoon Tea is served every day for a minimum of two guests (and up to six), and costs £19.95 per person. Our Afternoon Tea is served at our lovely window table downstairs or upstairs in the 'Cocoa Den' and lasts for an hour and a half. It's vegetarian and we can cater for gluten-free & vegan diets too, please let us know your requirements when you book and we will do our best. See our website for more details.
